Napoleone, il cowboy e lo Zar -                                                   Napoleon, the Cowboy and the Tsar

C'è chi piange con me, c'è chi prega perché

E su quella città vestito in bianco c'è

"Napoleone, il cowboy e lo Zar" is a musical cover of the 1954 Bill Haley classic "Thirteen Women (And Only One Man in Town)." Celentano updated the song on his 1991 album Il re degli ignoranti (The King of the Ignorant) - "The Man from Baghdad, the Cowboy, and the Tsar." The Italian lyrics bear little resemblance to Haley's original.

Strange, this dream: I was in a city.
From a glass palace, out comes a cowboy,
from the Volga River, the Tsar arrives.
Napoleon dismounts from the Eiffel Tower.
He dismounts, dismounts from the Eiffel Tower.

There on the plaza are the three of them.
Each one wants the city for himself.
Those three have hatred in their hearts.
What ever is going to happen?

It’s an hour of fear and the people know it.
Some cry like me, and some pray because
the decision is in the hands of those three.
Cold faces of wax that no longer talk,
in that triangle there’s our life that
swings hanging, hanging on the hearts of the three.

Napoleon points a cannon straight at the cowboy,
and there’s a long blade that glistens in the hands of the Tsar,
and the cowboy’s pistol completed the threesome’s scene.
Who knows if tomorrow the sun will shine for us?

The blue sky goes black and war will come,
but suddenly from on high, in the midst of the blackness,
a ray lights up above those three.
It comes from a window, that gaze of love,
and on that city dressed in white there’s
a man who brings peace.

All the people cry with joy, what happiness,
finally, all the city is saved.
They’re no longer enemies, those three,
and the fear went away.
Who knows if my dream can change reality?
Who knows if my dream can change reality?
Who knows if my dream can change reality?
Who knows if it can change reality?

Adriano Rock is the fourth album released on the Clan Celentano label, released in 1968. It's the first Celentano album containing only previously unreleased material, and includes covers of three songs by Bill Haley, who was the source of Celentano's rock 'n' roll infection.
