The album is a selection of songs from their theatrical production called "The Future of the Automobile and Other Stories," which was broadcast by state television RAI. Roversi wanted the album to present all the songs from the show and objected to Dalla choosing to present only half of them. Roversi ended up disavowing the album project, signing his contribution with the pseudonym "Norisso."
