Sporca estate - Nasty Summer

Figli, come mi mancate
Sporca estate
E tu che dici
Che ho distrutto la tua vita
Capirai mai
Che il tuo dolore
Si è aggiunto al mio?
Nella mia vita non ho fatto
Che rimorchiare
Sporca estate
A mia volta rimorchiato
Quindi definitivamente scaricato
Figli, vi porterei a cena
Sulle stelle
Ma non ci siete
Ma non ci siete
Ma non ci siete
Figli, vi porterei a cena
Sulle stelle
Ma non ci siete
Ma non ci siete
Ma non ci siete

Sporca estate © 1971 Piero Ciampi, Gianni Marchetti

Children, how I miss you.
Nasty summer,
and you who say
that I destroyed your life,
will you ever understand
that your pain
was added to mine?
In my life, I’ve done nothing
but play around.
Nasty summer,
in my turn, picked up,
and then decisively dumped.
Children, I would take you to dinner
on the stars,
but you’re not there,
but you’re not there,
but you’re not there.
Children, I would take you to dinner
on the stars,
but you’re not there,
but you’re not there,
but you’re not there.

Piero Ciampi was released in 1971 and was produced and arranged by Gianni Marchetti, who also composed the music. With this new musical partnership, and given free artistic rein on the album, Ciampi felt he could be himself, unboxed in by the more mainstream and rigid esthetics he'd encountered with previous studio outings. This album was originally going to be on RCA, but Ciampi made off with their advance and spent it all before cutting a single track. In exasperation, RCA handed Ciampi off to one of its subsidiaries and washed their hands of him - in hindsight, probably the best thing that could have happened to all concerned.
